Trends in Home Remodeling and Design:
"Aging-in-place concepts, 'flex' space that the homeowner decides how to use, dual home offices, 'tech niches', areas to 'cave' and rejuvenation rooms-people want more personal space not simply to work out in, these are one-stop sites for meditating or hobbying. These are among the biggest trends in residential building right now".

The New York Times - Sunday, January 30, 2005
What's a Home Without an Office?
"The trend I'm seeing is, rather than the home office being a separate individual kind of room, people want the home office to become part of the bedroom," said Paul Pellicani, principal architect at Paul Joseph Pellicani Architecture and Design in Glen Head. "Not in the bedroom itself but off to the side in a sitting area that is also part of the master suite." ... "If the whole family will be using the computer, Mr. Pellicani often suggests finding a common space, or opening one up. Most of his clients have 'jumped all over' that idea, he said."

WOR-FM -
On planning a major renovation, Architect Paul Pellicani says: "One of the first things someone needs to establish is their 'wish list' or a list of needs or goals or dreams. We encourage people to dream, and to dream out loud, and to dream big. We want them to put it all out there on the table, and little by little we incorporate these things into the project."
